Sarah and Jelle became fast friends of ours when we moved to Houston in 2009. They were (and still are!) young, fun, spunky, and most notably, hospitable and loyal. We excitedly watched the development and eagerly awaited the birth of their first born in late 2010\/early 2011, a promise of new life amidst immense heartache as we and several others grieved the loss of a friend to cancer in February of 2011. Sweet Maikke came into the world as bold and beautiful as her amazing momma, and is now quite the spritely little blonde-haired, brown-eyed toddler!<\/p>\n

When Sarah approached me about photographing their second child, another girl, born on the birthday of our late friend, I was beyond thrilled. I was honored. I love witnessing parents as they tenderly hold their newborn, and can’t help but grin when a young sibling tries to be gentle with this new baby in their life.<\/p>\n

I LOVE this picture of Maikke on the right – oh my goodness, the personality of this little girl is one-in-a-million! This adorable expression was prompted when her daddy said, “Maikke, show them your ‘surprised’ face!”<\/div>\n
